V7 Footprint selection method from "bulk-edit fields" was more feature rich than current V8
Description
My workflow was to initally select the required symbols and leave the default if footprint selected until the first layout attempt. I would then open the "bulk-edit fields" menu and select the footprint by clicking on the little library icon at the respective symbol's textbox
Afterwards I would use the measurement tool provided from the window that appeared This allowed me to verify dimensions easily and also visualize the component from the 3D viewer which would automatically update whenever I select a new footprint if the default one wasn't suitable
V8 has a very stripped down version of that, only showing the preview of the footprint with (seemingly) no way to make measurements or access the 3D viewer
Steps to reproduce
- Open V7, Insert symbol
- use "bulk-edit fields" to assign footprint
- observe tools provided to the user (measurement and 3D Viewer)
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 with V8
- Observe the previously provided tools not available anymore
