Display update progress in control panel

Currently when you hit the Update button, progress is shown inside the console. We would need some way to show it in the react app (control panel) to the user directly

Note that this could be used for other things (like show generation's progress as well) but the update progress might be made obsolete when #339 (closed) gets done.
