vroom results
I don't think including vroom results in R versions without altrep is very useful, the whole point of the package is deferred parsing using altrep. I would suggest you remove it unless you plan to redo these results with a newer version of R.
If you do include vroom I don't think there is a need for a benchmark with purrr::map_dfr()
, there is no reason to use that idiom with vroom.
Also you can use pipe()
to stream the output from grep for all of the non-fread packages (including base), so you should really have grep benchmarks for all of them, not just readr.
You might also want to put the time
call inside the for loop at https://gitlab.com/jozefhajnala/fread-benchmarks/blob/master/bench/bench.sh#L9, so you get individual times for each iteration rather than only the overall result for all 10.
