Fix canvas notice hiding (UI papercut)

Fix a minute UI papercut with the newly introduced canvas notices.

Don't the set text to empty when hiding, because we can see it change before the hiding animation, resulting in a slight visual glitch.

The fix had already snuck into master in !5373 (merged), so this is the backport.
