Inkscape quits when last document is closed on macOS
Observed on macOS 10.14, Inkscape 1.0beta1 (76ce7306, 2019-10-19).
After the last document is closed, Inkscape quits, even though it has not been asked to.
This is not proper behavior for applications on the macOS platform. Proper behavior is that when the last document is closed either a new document is created, or the application remains open, though without any windows open. (Remains resident in dock, and the menu bar is present when the program is open.)
Previous versions of Inkscape, including 0.92, handled this gracefully by opening a new document when there were no further windows open. The new behavior is thus a regression.
(To be completely clear: This issue is for Mac only, and current behavior should likely not be altered in this way for other platforms.)
Edited November 20 2019 to add note: The comment below by Mr Ben Griffin authoritatively elucidates the OS-specific expected behavior: Since Inkscape is (presently) an application that can have multiple windows open, closing a window should not quit the application.
