Importing a bitmap file with an accented character in the filename messes with PPI
Steps to reproduce:
- create a bitmap image (in my case a png sized 1600x900 pixels) and save it under two names, like e.png and é.png
- right-click in explorer and choose Open with > Inkscape on both files (linking or embedding makes no difference)
What happened?
Inkscape creates a page with the same pixel dimensions as the imported bitmap. According to the document properties, both pages are 1600 x 900 pixels large. But if you do a bitmap export and select page, Inkscape wants to create a 5000 x 2813 image for é.png and a 1600 x 900 image for e.png. And if you draw a Bezier curve with a thickness of, say 1 px, the line is relatively smaller on é.png (see test).
What should have happened?
The filename should have no effect on the bitmap being imported.
Inkscape Version and Operating System:
- Inkscape Version: Inkscape 0.92.3 (2405546, 2018-03-11)
- Retested with Inkscape version 1.0beta2 (418fe521, 2019-12-12), the problem persists
- Operating System: Windows 10 Pro
- Operating System version: 18362.295
