offscreen x/y coordinates opens file offscreen (Windows)
Steps to reproduce:
- open Inkscape (important to not open the file yet)
- Open (via open dialog) a file with inkscape:window-x or inkscape:window-y larger than your screen coordinates. Example file (opens at 2000, 1500, originally from inbox#1234 (closed) but with everything stripped) offscreen.svg
What happened?
Opens offscreen, not accessible afaik. Should just open on screen. In Linux, it was placed in the bottom right.
Following these instructions in Linux opens file at 0, 0, which doesn't match behavior when starting inkscape with the file as input (e.g. inkscape not-offscreen.svg
)
Edit: Linux refers to Linux Mint 19.1, DE: Cinnamon
Inkscape Version and Operating System:
- Tested using 7z artefact of 459877fb (2019-11-14) on Windows 10 (no external monitors - at least not in that session, or in the time it was Windows 10)
Behavior introduced in commit 4e2f989a99874cf6a50cd9583c16fd36c6c8ac12

Properly update document view when closing, then opening a new file
We call "change_document()" in this case, which only switches the
document without creating a new window and consequently did not do
any of the required set-up
This ensures window size/position and other preferences stored in
<namedview> are properly applied.
but that is revealing a hidden problem, not causing one. If you saw me in rocketchat earlier, this was what was causing problems for me before
