Grid offset dependent on y-axis direction

Steps to reproduce:

  • Open Inkscape with default A4 document
  • Go to Document Properties (Ctrl+Shift+D)
  • Select grids, New rectangular grid
  • Make spacing large so its easier to see (e.g. 90px 90px)
    • Note that the grid starts in the top left corner and doesn't align to the bottom left corner
  • Save the document
  • Go to Preferences (Ctrl+Shift+P) > Interfact
  • Untick the last box (origin at upper left)
  • Restart inkscape
    • Note grid now starts in the bottom left corner and doesn't align to the top left corner

What happened?

Grid positioning dependent on y-axis direction

What should have happened?

We assume grid information in svg file refers to y-axis pointing up (old behaviour) and adjust what is displayed in the GUI accordingly so the grid position is not dependent on y-axis direction.

At least, in my opinion. Maybe it shouldn't 😕
