With specific fonts, a spurious symbol appears at newlines in flowed text columns (diamond-shaped handle)
Summary:
Within multi-line flowed text columns (created dragging the diamond-shaped handle at the right of the text box, which adds the white-space:pre
option in the SVG file) a weird symbol appears at the end of lines, only when using certain fonts.
Steps to reproduce:
- Open a new document.
- Using the text tool, draw a text box rectangle.
- Fill with a multi-line text, like in this picture:
- Select all the text.
- Change font to one of the following (if they're present on your machine, I just quickly tested all the ones I have on my machine):
- Gentium Book Basic
- Gentium Basic
- Linux Biolinum G
- Linux Libertine G
- Linux Libertine Display G
- OldNewspaperTypes
- Scheherazade
What happened?
At each newline a new symbol appears, like in the following:
What should have happened?
The appearance of the text should have changed without adding any symbol.
Some observations on the SVG
Looking at the SVG file I noticed that this phenomena appears when the white-space:pre is set and the text has a newline before the closing tag, like this:
