Importing pdf loses italics and or bold for some fonts
Migrated from https://bugs.launchpad.net/inkscape/+bug/267256
Steps to reproduce:
- open Inkscape
- open example.pdf or example_orig.pdf or example_libre.pdf
- Either with or without Replace PDF fonts by closest named installed fonts
What happened?
- Several fonts import without italics, or without bold
example.pdf (launchpad example file)
font | italic/oblique | bold |
---|---|---|
URW Palladio L | normal | not tested |
example_orig.pdf (inkscape export)
font | italic/oblique | bold |
---|---|---|
DeJaVu Sans | oblique | bold |
FreeSans | normal | normal |
URW Palladio L | normal | bold |
URW Bookman | Light italic | normal |
example_libre.pdf (libreoffice export)
font | italic/oblique | bold |
---|---|---|
DeJaVu Sans | oblique | bold |
FreeSans | italic | normal |
URW Palladio L | italic | bold |
URW Bookman | italic | normal |
the example_orig and example_libre files, FreeSans (and others) have -inkscape-font-specification:FreeSansOblique
and -inkscape-font-specification:FreeSansBold
, although italic/oblique/bold isn't actually applied
LibreOffice Draw isn't perfect at importing these styles either but does succeed for example_libre.pdf and example.pdf and some of example_orig.pdf
What should have happened?
- All fonts import with Bold or Italic as appropriate.

svg used to generate example_orig.pdf: example_orig.svg created in a 1.0beta2 appimage \
libreoffice writer file used to generate example_libre.pdf: example_libre.odt (note: URW Palladio L not found during export)
