Inkscape 1.0 when screen sharing ith Zoom

Summary:

Mouse clicks stop workng when screen sharing with Zoom.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Inkscape, draw smt, e.g. a rectangle.
2. Start a Zoom session and share your screen.
3. In Inkscape try to select the shape by clicking on it. => nothing happens

What happened?

I recently upgraded to Inkscape 1.0 (4035a4fb49, 2020-05-01). To my surprise, when I tried to share my screen with a colleague during a zoom meeting, the Inkscape mouse controls when haywire. I couldn't select an object I just drew and other strange behaviours. It seem like regular mouse click just stopped working. Left click and selectio still work fine.

My guess is that something changed in the way Inkscape handles mouse messages/commands (under Windows) and that it get messed up with Zoom's mouse hooks. Note that this doesn't happen with pre-v1.0 Inkscapre releases.

What should have happened?

Mouse selection should work as usual even when sharing the screen under Zoom.

Not replicated same Inkscape version, Windows 10 with Zoom screen sharing the Inkscape window (only testing though, not screensharing with anyone else, and w/o audio)

Right click, left click worked fine. I could select objects with select and rect tool, and create new objects with the rect tool.

Zoom version was 5.1.1 (28546.0628), perhaps it was an issue in Zoom that was fixed between updates?

Latest versions of both. The problem only manifests when sharing the screen. I just open the same session on my desktop and on my phone. That's sufficient to reproduce.

Just to collect some more information about the bug (while I can't reproduce), what tools did you test with (no need to test them all, just want to know what had problems) and could you add a video recording of the issue?

Note: I tried sharing the screen with myself on a browser session, but I still can't reproduce. My machine's a bit of an oddity though

Note that a major change between older versions and 1.0 is the upgrade from gtk2 to gtk3 for handling our user interface. This had to happen eventually (and was several years in the making), because gtk2 will eventually have support dropped. Anyhow, it's possible that the switch was enough to cause this (not saying whether the bug lies with Zoom or gtk or Windows)

We can't rule out one of our changes to handling gtk mouse events of course.

Possibly related to inkscape#1163 (closed).

@adishavit If you're available for a test I can try to fix you a custom build of gtk3 to see if the patch mentioned in the linked issue would solve this particular issue for you.

Finally got around to re-compile gtk with a patch.

To test, please copy the file libgdk-3-0.dll into your "inkscape\bin" folder (make sure to overwrite the existing file; you can also back it up before if you want).

Let me know if it solves the issue as it does for gtk2.
