1.4 Clicking on a locked layer in the Layers dialog selects workspace objects in that layer
Summary:
In version 1.4 Clicking on a locked layer in the Layers dialog selects all objects in that layer, even when the layer is hidden.
Steps to reproduce:
- open Inkscape
- Create two or more layers with objects in each layer
- Lock all layers
- Click on any layer in the Layers dialog
What happened?
All objects in the layer are selected in the workspace.
What should have happened?
Clicking on the layer should only make that layer the active layer (whether locked or not), not select anything in the workspace. This is the expected behavior consistent with earlier versions of Inkscape and the majority of similar programs.
In version 1.3.2, clicking on a locked layer in the dialog highlighted the layer, but no objects were selected.
This is related to my earlier report: #8423 (closed). That resulted in some improvement, but not optimal imo. If layer ordering within the dialog requires selection in the workspace, I suggest automatically deselecting workspace objects when the mouse moves out of the Layers dialog.
