Configure the IP to String function in UDP Configuration--constant.vi
to use dot notation in order to avoid the name resolution to take very long.
----------original issue description----------
Hello,
sorry if this is not the right place to submit this question. I am going through your implementation of TCP modification to the DQMH and I started with the RemoteControl and GenNet proxy example to get some understanding of what's going on. I am testing it on localhost. The time to open the connection from RemoteControl (GenNet Client) to GenNet proxy (server/listener) is really short and I didn't find any need to test it. However the RemoteControl client has some weird issue when opening the connection. After establishing TCP connection with the server our client tries to open UDP port to listen for broadcast messages. It takes a really long time (a couple of seconds) to open this port on my local machine. What's the use-case for this broadcast listener in this example?
I attach the screenshot with probes setup showing the time difference on error messages received.
I guess I will have to dig deeper to understand what this UDP listener is doing in the example.
Edit:
This is confusing for me, I checked the GenNet Client and opening an UDP listener there is working flawlessly. I tried connecting the local IP address wire input in RemoteControl Module, but it didn't improve the situation.
I also attach a screenshot of "tests" with GenNet Client just opening UDP listener through the same event that RemoteControl tries to emit.
