Need major-minor versions separately.
I hate asking for this, because it's kind-of a mess, but ...
- PowerShell 7.2 is a long-term servicing release
- PowerShell 7.3 is current
- PowerShell 7.4 is in preview
Microsoft's build agents have only the LTS version of PowerShell.
We want to install only the LTS version of PowerShell on our servers.
This ought to be handled better by chocolatey, but it's currently not handled.
- Choco does not support pinning a major.minor version (so we cannot pin 7.2.x and get LTS patches without upgrading to 7.3)
- Choco 2 does not support installing multiple versions SxS anymore (so I can't install the current release and the preview)
I'd like to request that you build more unique packages the way the dotnet sdk packages are done:
- pwsh - metadata only, installs whatever the latest pwsh release is (includes access to prereleases)
- pwsh-7.2 - all releases of 7.2.x
- pwsh-7.3 - all releases of 7.3.x
- pwsh-7.4 - all releases of 7.4.x (including pre-releases)
I'd be willing to help make this happen, if you're willing but don't have the time for it.
