Feature request: Option to add a customized frame around content in profile
Thanks for filing an issue! Please answer the questions below so I can help you.
- iTerm2 version: 3.4.2
- OS version: 10.15.7
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Set up profiles with automatic switching for different hosts
- Set each one to show a badge in different colors
- Open tabs into each profile/host and switch tabs a few times
What happened:
The only obvious way to tell which host you're connected to is the badge, which may or may not be conveniently located given where you happen to be looking. It's still too east to do things on the wrong host.
What should have happened:
A differentiation mechanism that's visible more generally across window without requiring you to have unusual background colors would be a big help. My idea: an option to add a customizable border or frame just inside the content area of the window. This could be as simple as a checkbox that would use the same color as the badge and draw a simple line a pixel or two wide around the inner edge of the window, or as cool as a separately configurable color, border width, and possibly things like an option to do a gradient to transparent instead of just being a flat solid line.
It would look something like this:
