When using "scale to fit", iTerm should use the color scheme for its background color
When using a background image for a profile and the "scale to fit" image setting, iTerm2 uses a dark color for the area outside the image.
Since most terminals are light-on-dark, you don't notice. In the attached screenshot however a dark-on-light colorscheme is used, and the use of a dark color is out-of-place. Instead, the color scheme's background color should be used.
- iTerm2 version: Build 3.3.12
- OS version: 10.15.5 (19F101)
- Attach com.googlecode.iterm2.plist here (drag-drop from finder into this window)
- Attach a debug log, if possible. Instructions at https://iterm2.com/debuglog
- Attach a screen capture video if it would make the reproduction steps clearer.
- Are you reporting a performance issue, excessive CPU usage, or a hang? Please attach a sample. Instructions at https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/HowToSample
- Are you reporting a crash? Please attach the crash log. Instructions at https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/crash-logs
- Are you reporting excessive memory usage? Please attach a heap analysis: https://gitlab.com/gnachman/iterm2/wikis/heapshot
PLEASE ATTACH YOUR PLIST FILE FOR BUG REPORTS! Seriously! I'll probably ask you for it if you don’t.
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Set a dark-on-light color scheme. I used Material
- Set a square background image with Scale to fit
- Adjust window size until black borders are visible
What happened: Black borders are visible
What should have happened: Should use the configured background color for the overflow around the image.
