Significant grey box rendering issues when text output causes scrolling.
metadata:
- iTerm2 version: 3.3.9
- OS version: Mojave 10.14.6
- Attach ~/Library/Preferences/com.googlecode.iterm2.plist: com.googlecode.iterm2.plist
- Attach a debug log: 2020-04-14T12-01-00-debuglog.txt
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Open iTerm 2
- Resize it larger than 110 characters wide (not sure exactly how many is the cutoff)
- hit enter repeatedly ~2-3x/sec for ~10 seconds, or otherwise prompt text scrolling behaviour for a sustained time (e.g. reading through a diff >1-2 pages)
What happened: (it varies, and changes as you cause scroll)
- large grey box artifacts over whole or parts of the screen
- white flashes
- white lines on edges of screen
- total loss of rendering
- apparent window repositioning
- continued visual artifacts in other menus and paint/render issues after switching to other programs
What should have happened:
- just scrolling text
Other context:
- no custom PS1 or unusual character encodings/locale settings, reproduced after disabling all .bash_profile includes
- first noticed prior to 3.3.8, but don't remember which version
- sometimes closing the window or causing additional scroll will resolve the artifacts
