Inspector
This feature recommends a new context-sensitive inspector to accompany the terminal. The goals here are ambitious and amazing. So for it to be fully realized, this must be extensible so others can build on it.
A new inspector / side window will show relevant information for the current directory. The information updates each time you change directories.
It is basically the type of information people cram into their $PS1 but it has more and it is shown in a better place.
BASIC INFORMATION: Number of files and folders in the current directory, and a list of the first 10 files.
GIT: Git status of the current directory
RAKE: Rake tasks available from this directory
MAKE: List of dirty make targets
Each one of these things naturally translates into an action. Clicking on a file runs ls -la FILE
. Right clicking shows Finder actions associated with that file. Git has uncommitted changes? Clicking prepares git -m 'INSERTION POINTER IS HERE'
. Click rake task, it runs that task.
