I would like to change the cursor style like in xterm
Feature Request
Summary
Change the app cursor style like in xterm.
What is the feature you'd like to request?
In xterm, the cursor shape can be change with an escape sequence like xterm uses. This NOT to be confused with the terminal cursor style (Block, Line, or Underline).
For example, the “pointerShape” escape command “\e]22;arrow\e\” will change the cursor from the standard xterm text selection cursor to a right pointing arrow. Or, the sequence “\e]22;watch\e\” will set it to a small watch icon. To put the cursor back to normal, use with the sequence “\e]22;xterm\e\”. There are several dozen different cursors listed on the https://invisible-island.net/ website.
These escape sequences seemed to be ignored by iterm, or I couldn’t find any preference in iterm to enable this.
Alternatives
There seem to be no alternatives.
Concerns
Compatible divergence from xterm and doesn’t allow the cursor to change by region focus.
