Typing CTRL+C does not work, and the text ^[[99;5U appears on the screen.

What happened:
In a normal terminal environment, the ctrl+c key works fine, but when I'm running a server with django and I type ctrl+c to shut down the server, ^[[99;5U is printed to the screen and doesn't work. It worked fine in the native terminal app or terminal in vscode.
