Getting "error unzipping python environent" because of bad .config
- iTerm2 version: 3.4.4+
- OS version: 10.15.7
Detailed steps to reproduce the problem:
- Have a bad symlink at ~/.config/iterm2/AppSupport
- Try to install Python Runtime on 3.4.4+
- Get error message "error unzipping python environent" after download
What happened:
After having to reinstall my OS from scratch (and moving some files afterward), starting from version 3.4.4 I failed to install Python Runtime. All I got was a message "error unzipping python environent" after complete download.
What should have happened:
After investigation I found the reason: it appears that iTerm2 creates symlink of a form ~/.config/iterm2/AppSupport -> /Users/%USER%/Library/Application Support/iTerm2'
. And because during the reinstall I changed the user... it pointed to a bad path and iTerm just choked on it.
Should it correctly notify user about error? Or why this symlink exists in the first place? (Legacy support reasons, I wonder?)
IMO at least it shouldn't tell that error was during unzipping.
