Job title
There are a variety of alternative job titles for data scientists. The most commonly reported other job titles were Data Analyst, ML Scientist, Machine Learning Engineer, Research Scientist.
Company size
Data scientists can work at any size organization. 4/5 participants said the minimum company size was 0 - 10 people. One participant noted that data scientists working at smaller organization will juggle more responsibilities and be less specialized.
Team size
Most participants thought a data scientist would work in a team of 1 - 5 or 6 - 10 people.
Market sector
All participants thought data scientists could work in any sector. "A user under the Data Scientist persona could work in a variety of market sectors, as the skills and knowledge of a data scientist are highly valued across industries. Organizations need to gain insights from data in this knowledge era to gain competitive advantage." -P4
GitLab plan
The majority of participants thought the data scientist persona could be on any GitLab plan. Three participants noted that GitLab is currently less popular with data scientists because GitLab does not offer features targeted at data scientists currently.
Features that data scientists use
GitLab does not currently offer many features targeted at data scientists. The most common answer was CI/CD (3/5).
