Automate versioning for this project

@jaime An year ago, I went through a task for releasing v1.0.0 of the other project. To me, the most important change made at that time was to explicitly document the release process that strictly follows Semantic Versioning. So that users and contributors can have a more clear anticipation that how major, minor and patch versions are treated in this project, and when a new feature or bug fix is packaged/released, etc.
