Value Streams Dashboard - Add Analyze -> Analytics Dashboards menu for groups
Overview
In collaboration with groupoptimize, groupproduct analytics building customizable dashboards framework that consolidate all analytics-related dashboards under one menu item.
Problem to solve
The Value Streams Dashboard (VSD) is currently only accessible via Value Stream Analytics (VSA) drill-up. This navigation request is blocker for gitlab-org/gitlab!123852 (merged).
Proposal
- Adding for both Group/Project a new navigation item
Analyze -> Analytics Dashboards
:
- This will direct a user to a page of pre-built dashboards here shown at the project level:
- In a later iteration, we'll consolidate most of groupoptimize reports under
Analytics Dashboards
at both the group and project level by turning them into customizable dashboard panels. This includes Insights, Issue Analytics, Code Review Analytics and Repository Analytics.
Related information
- Currently under Project menu we have
Analyze -> Application analytics
. - This menu was added for the alpha of groupproduct analytics.
- In the original proposal the suggestion name was
Analyze -> Dashboards
, this was changed few months later in this discussion toApplication analytics
. - The reason for
Analytics Dashboards
and not Applications analytics, is that we want to give our customers a unified dashboard experience. We also want to avoid having two menu items for dashboards under Analyze - one for groupoptimize and one for groupproduct analytics.
