Growth Async Week - June 21-25
Aim
Promote async first communication https://about.gitlab.com/company/culture/all-remote/asynchronous/
The All-Remote team run async weeks every six weeks https://about.gitlab.com/handbook/marketing/corporate-marketing/all-remote/#async-weeks. Let's try this and see what we learn.
Please champion meeting reduction during this week and encourage your colleagues to do the same. During async week, we are declining most meetings in favor of asynchronous collaboration. The goal is not to reschedule meetings, but to reduce them.
Benefits
- Percent reduction of minutes spent in synchronous meetings
- Percent increase in GitLab issue/epic/merge request usage
- Improved ratio of meeting minutes-to-GitLab contributions
- Increase in 360 feedback citing 'bias towards asynchronous communication' in the Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging field
(From https://about.gitlab.com/company/culture/all-remote/asynchronous/#async-kpi-targets)
Exceptions
This doesn't mean no meetings and no opportunities to catch up. Exceptions include:
- GitLab Assembly (June 24th).
- High priority issues that require a sync meeting.
- Social calls / Coffee Catchups.
