Iterate on starting page of the trial flow: Clearly state which plan is being tried & facilitate decision making SAAS v.s Self-hosted
-
When users starts a trial for GitLab we are not fully clear on which plan/related features will be tried, this was one of the main pain point observed during the Scoring of the current trial flow. We are introducing doubt at the very beginning of the process, we should fix this by clarifying the entry page of the trial flow.
-
Although a significant improvement from previous iteration, it seems like the choice between SAAS and Self-hosted is not easy to grasp at first glance. The information we are displaying and the layout of the page should better facilitate decision making.
Input data
Based on the findings from Research on GitLab Self-hosted trial adjust the starting page of the trial flow.
Requirements
- Adjust the current page to clearly state which plan and set of features users are going to try.
- Is self-hosted a valuable option?
- Yes but minor, reflect this in the layout
- No, delete the option and prompt users at the end of their trial helping them to self-host GitLab if they would like to.
