Revert "Merge branch 'kp-requirements-add-search-history-support' into 'master'"

The changes introduced in merge request !36554 (merged) are causing spec failure on today's auto-deploy branch, the GitLab FOSS mirror, and merge requests submitted by contributors (#228876 (closed)). To unblock merge requests and deployments, we are reverting these changes from master and the auto-deploy branch.
