Enable note_agent_session_bar by default
What does this MR do and why?
Turns on note_agent_session_bar by default, so the agent session bar shows on work item, issue, and merge request notes for everyone.
- Changes the flag type from
wiptobetaand setsdefault_enabled: true. - Moves the definition from
config/feature_flags/wip/toconfig/feature_flags/beta/. GitLab requires a flag's directory to match its type (lib/feature/definition.rb).
With the flag on:
- Agent notes show the session bar instead of the standalone session button.
- The "started session N and will let you know when it's finished" note is no longer posted, because the session bar replaces it.
- Errors the session bar can display are shown there instead of being posted as an error note.

How to set up and validate locally
Prerequisite: GitLab Duo Agent Platform is set up in your GDK, with a flow you can mention, such as the developer flow.
-
In the Rails console, clear any local override and confirm the flag is on by default:
Feature.remove(:note_agent_session_bar) Feature.enabled?(:note_agent_session_bar, Project.find_by_full_path('<your-group>/<your-project>')) # => true -
Open an issue or work item in that project and post a comment that mentions the agent, for example
@duo-developer-<your-group> How many fingers am I holding up?. -
While the session runs, confirm that:
- The session bar appears on the agent's note.
- No "started session N and will let you know when it's finished" note is posted.
-
Repeat on a merge request comment, on both the Overview tab and a diff discussion.
-
Optional: in the browser console,
gon.features.noteAgentSessionBarreturnstrueon the work item and merge request pages. -
To check that the rollback works, run
Feature.disable(:note_agent_session_bar)and repeat step 2. The standalone session button and the "started session" note come back.
