What does this MR do and why?

Make MergeTrains::CarType pipeline nullable

The pipeline can be null in a few cases. For example,

  • when the car has just been created
  • when the car was skip-merged

This type is not reachable in any query yet, so this is not a breaking change and I'm not adding a changelog entry.
