When editing dates on a work item (epic), the widget can be closed and dates updated when pressing the Escape key.

How to set up and validate locally
- Visit work items list (e.g. http://127.0.0.1:3000/groups/gitlab-org/-/work_items/)
- Create an epic and visit it
- In the sidebar, edit dates and press Escape
