Creating a new tag is not clear on new release page

Summary

1. While running through creating a release as an onboarding task, how to create a new tag name was not clear to me. Similarly, @pedroms mentioned a similar issue while reviewing an MR:

Furthermore, the way you create a new tag is very hidden. You need to type something in the search dropdown and then click “New tag”.

2. Additionally, the create from input box appearing as default is a bit jarring.

When creating a release, I was confused by the “Create from” input appearing by default as it seems connected to the act of “Creating a new tag”. I had not begun that process, so this input was strange to me.

3. Finally, the required information in the tag name field should be shown in the field label, and not as help/description text.

Solution

• Use the dropdown with a create action in the footer to allow users to more easily create a new tag.
