Consider updating the review app configuration to follow something similar to SAST configuration
Release notes
Problem to solve
Based on the feedback conversation around improving the Enable review app modal, we found that SAST allows you to configure SAST in the UI through a configuration form/page https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/user/application_security/sast/#configure-sast-in-the-ui-with-default-settings. It then turns the options you selected into YAML in the backend, and adds it to the pipeline when you select Create merge request
. This is something we could think about doing for review apps as well, to make it easier to configure them and to add some consistency around the different features you can add into your .gitlab-ci.yml
file.
Intended users
User experience goal
The user should be able to easily set up and add a review app to their project. The mechanism of adding features like this, that impact the ci.yml
file, should be consistent so that the user knows where to go to do this.
Proposal
Use a similar form to configure review apps as we do for SAST.
