Add labels to the incident list
Release notes
Problem to solve
From @jarv: We use labels for everything, i.e. Root Cause Analysis, Service Levels, Incident:Mitigated (status), etc. It could be helpful to expand on statuses or expose labels on the incident screen that lists the incidents.
Intended users
Metrics
Increase Monitor - SMAU, Unique users that interact with Alerts and Incidents
User experience goal
Users are able to use the Incident List to quickly triage and see an overview of their Incidents.
Proposal
Surface incident labels to the incident list, following the patterns we're using for surfacing labels on the alert list. How this would look, on incidents:
Incident list with visible labels | Published to status page bullhorn icon |
---|---|
Included in this work:
- Combining the existing incident title, labels, assignee and "published to status page" columns into a single column.
- Introducing a new column for incident status.
- Updating the icon for
Published to status page
. Rather than the current checkmark, which is also the icon for pipelines, we'll now use thebullhorn icon
. The bullhorn icon will appear when the incident has been published; it will not appear if it hasn't. - Update the presentation of the SLA timer column to better align with the presentation on the incident detail page.
- Updating the table design to match the latest updates to the table component, which includes text color and alignment changes (text is now all dark grey, and content is top-aligned, rather than center-aligned).
- Getting rid of the deprecated green "create incident" button, replacing it with a blue button.
Not included in this work:
- Introducing editable statuses on the incident list page
- Bulk actions
These two things will be tackled in #351245.
Further details
Also from @jarv -
There is the Incident List and the Issue List. It would be helpful if we could decide which one to go with.
