Abbreviate long numbers in UIs tight on space
Sometimes our UIs would benefit from abbreviating long numbers instead of showing exact numbers. For example, in project and group lists when users explore them the big difference is if a project has 12 stars or 12,000 stars. At this stage, details are not as relevant as they are later on.
Examples
Abbreviate numbers (and round upwards) in UIs that are short on space, a few examples:
-
1.5k
instead of1,478
-
12k
instead of12,024
-
13k
instead of12,768

Proposal
Once a value reaches a value of 1000
show an abbreviated version containing one decimal point rounded upwards.

Implementation
This has been implemented for projects, and needs to be added to the group overview for:
- the number of subgroups listed
- the number of projects listed
The number of members in a group should remain accurate and not be abbreviated, as it relates to seat usage.
