Edit to Preview Markdown Auto-Jump to Last Edited Cursor Position UX Improvement
Problem to solve
When going from the Edit to Preview Markdown tab in the GitLab.com IDE, it is a PIA to have to manually scroll in the Preview Markdown to preview your last edit.
Further details
When going from the Preview Markdown tab to the Edit tab, the DOM isn't recreated so you get the cached scroll position for free. As a result the UX is good here. This UX should go both ways, not just one way.
Proposal
There is obviously code for tracking the cursor position in the Edit tab (blue horizontal line in scroll track updates), so mapping that position to the generated Preview Markdown and then auto-scroll/auto-jump to that position.
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
Success is when the Preview Markdown display's vertical position matches the corresponding vertical position of the Edit display. The measurement is binary, it either remains as is (poor UX) or updates (improved UX).
