Reply to comments from preview drawer

Everyone can contribute. Help move this issue forward while earning points, leveling up and collecting rewards.

Problem

Currently, inside of email it is possible to reply without even opening the object the todo is about. This is not possible inside of gitlab itself and would speed up user's responsiveness.

Scope

  • Make it possible to create a comment to respond to the comment that created that todo
  • Be able to see if that todo is the last comment in that discussion thread in order to verify if the user needs to read more before he/she should comment.
  • Issues/merge requests/epics/commits (all places where a discussion can happen)

Design

Following what's been defined in Introduce preview pane to view notification in-... (#470597 - closed) - we're planning to introduce a preview drawer to the to-do/UI notifications list. That preview drawer will allow people to reply and emoji react to comments individually. If the comments are from threads, we'll show their position within the thread.

For comments specifically, that would look like this:
