GitLab Invision Freehand Partner Template
InVision has proposed that we create templates for it's Freehand product (see email below):
We've been seeing massive user growth for our Freehand product as a result of so many companies going remote. If you're not familiar, Freehand is our free, multiplayer digital whiteboard feature. It's part of our Cloud product but not something we've leaned into until this latest change in the future of work. We're investing renewed energy in feature development and as part of this are exploring the idea of pre-built Freehand templates - all sorts of use cases for these, one of which could be diagrams related to software architecture and DevOps. Our marketing team was receptive to the idea of opening up templates for a few select partners to contribute to.
Any interest in participating? This is still super early but I wanted to gather a shortlist of interested parties for now. Somewhat opportunistic as this is getting a lot of our marketing team's attention at the moment.
Best use of time for now is aligning on a couple of ideas/themes for a Gitlab Freehand template. I'll throw some tentative ideas down on paper here, very much open to others. The overall theme we'd love to highlight with Gitlab is processes/paradigms that show what it looks like to involve engineering early in the design process.
- Diagram demonstrating how Gitlab translates design specs --> developer tickets or dev dependencies
- How to go from design specs --> software architecture diagram
- Any other process that demonstrates how Gitlab believes engineers should approach unpacking design requirements
Let me know if any of the above strike a chord.
