MR Comments and Changes not importing correctly during large Github project import

Many comments in Merge Requests in an imported project from Github fail to load with the Something went wrong while fetching comments. Please try again. banner. Additionally, clicking into the Changes tab displays: Something went wrong on our end. Please try again!
Steps to reproduce
Import a project from Github with comments in a PR; view the matching MR after the import. Somewhat confusingly, some of the comments do come through possibly indicating some request frequency limit in Github being exceeded during the import.

What is the current bug behavior?
When a large project is brought in, the comments on newer MR don't load.
What is the expected correct behavior?
All comments in MRs are successfully imported.
