View how many objects users in your GitLab instance create in comparison to other instances
Description
- View how many objects users in your GitLab instance create in comparison to other instances (i.e. other customers of GitLab).
- View statistics of all customers' on-prem GitLab instances (including your own).
- View statistics of {issues created, boards created, merge requests created, jobs (builds) created} per user in a given month.
- The population data is from collected usage ping data on version.gitlab.com.
- View a few percentiles, e.g. 50th, 80th, 90th, 95th, 95th.
- View what value your metric is, and what percentile it is among the population. For example, issues created per user in March 2017 for your instance maybe 13.33. And then you see that 73% of all instances have 13.33 or fewer issues per created per user in March 2017.
- View this information as any role of GitLab.
System design
- This information is currently stored on version.gitlab.com. How to access it from within a GitLab instance?
- An integration where GitLab is a thin client that connects to version.gitlab.com (or whatever server), and the content is served. This has the advantage that the server can be updated independently and more frequently than GitLab itself is.
