11.10 Retro Release Problems

Marin (Delivery): Security fix caused a change in behaviour which impacted us as well as other users on GitLab.com of specific feature. Retrospective issue Critical security release was delayed due to failing tests in all stable branches. The spec in question was depending on state in master which was unexpected. Retrospective issue 6th attempt to deploy to GitLab.com worked, after 5 had to be discarded due to show-stopper bugs. Retrospective issue

Dylan - Not here (Configure): We released a regression that we didn't have time to fix before 11.10's last RC. https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/60500. The complexity of maintaining support for all the different ways of using K8s integration is getting really difficult to manage.

The question is: "Is there anything we can do about these challenges or do we need to monitor them to see if we see a pattern?"
