Explore desaturating the darker end of color ramps
Background
In dark mode, saturation in darker colors that appear on darker surfaces creates optical vibration that can be uncomfortable to look at (increased eye strain). From a purely aesthetic perspective, dark saturated colors on dark backgrounds generally produce poor visual results that tend to look muddy and indistinct rather than vibrant or elegant.
Anecdotally, the current level of saturation has provided more friction than needed when adopting feedback and status background design tokens because of the visual outcome.
Proposal
Although we initially kept color ramp changes out of scope, now that we're nearing beta for dark mode it's a good time to refine the darker end of the chromatic color ramps.
