Rename product examples to … ?

Consideration

As part of the UI kit we have prebuilt "product example instances" of components and patterns that have been configured to match actual product UI that can be used with copy/paste to help designers save time. Because these examples aren't published as part of the library, a designer has to open the file to grab them for use. We don't aim to fix that workflow, however we can rename them to better match the intent—quick, reusable elements to help speed up design.

One design system that was recently updated calls these "Grab n Go Examples," while others commonly call these "sticker sheets." Whatever we call them, it'd be great to indicate what these are for with a more accurate and actionable name. Product examples are a great way that others can contribute to the UI kit and this could be a small opportunity to create more awareness around them.

Ideas:

  • Sticker sheets
  • Take & make
  • Quickstarts
  • Starters
  • Design snippets
  • Drop-ins
  • Takeout
  • Accelerators

Desired outcome

Help increase quality and efficiency by providing designers with correctly configured examples to start with, leaving less room for error. This also opens a pathway to identify common configurations that can also aid with consistency over time as they are reused and referenced.
