Research: unite the design system repos

Problem to solve

We aim to migrate towards a unified source of truth for design system assets, documentation, and guidance. Currently, the design system spans three platforms: gitlab-ui, design.gitlab, and the Figma UI kit; each with varying levels of ownership across UX, engineering, brand, and the design systems group. Consolidating platforms, reducing dependencies, and removing duplicative content we will reduce maintenance overhead for groupdesign system improve trust in the design system, and streamline implementation.
