Remove duplication from build_test.go

What does this MR do?

It removes some code duplication in build_test.go.

Why was this MR needed?

There are several instances of code in that file which are boilerplate and can be moved to helper functions to make the tests smaller and more readable.

  • Added tests for this feature/bug
  • In case of conflicts with master - branch was rebased
