Add an architecture or interaction diagram to the GitLab Runner Kubernetes executor documentation
Overview
GitLab Runner with the Kubernetes executor is a compelling feature, especially for customers that need to self-host runners at scale. However, our current documentation does not provide any overview diagrams (interaction, architectural), which can simplify the adoption for users and customers.
Also, at least one customer has requested that some interaction or architectural diagram be added to the official GitLab docs to simplify the review of the runner+kubernetes executor architecture for their internal network security policies.
Proposal
Add an interaction or architecture diagram to the runner Kubernetes executor docs.
Note on future iterations
- Customers are also requesting reference architecture diagrams for the runner on:
- Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS
- Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)
- Red Hat OpenShift
- Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
As such we need to determine the best approach to addressing these requirements from a documentation perspective.
