Create examples or guidelines for self-managed runner configurations for enterprise scale (MVC)
Overview
Self-managed customers expect that GitLab will provide first class support for managing runners at enterprise scale. Today there is some documentation that provide advanced pages for autoscaling runners on AWS but at the moment there isn't any guidance on how to deploy runners on other infrastructure stacks that covers both reliability and scalability.
Proposal [MVC]
- Create an Enterprise Guide section on the gitlab-runner documentation site.
- Include a planning checklist
- Include a summary overview of
workers
,executors
and autoscaling capabilities - Include a section on monitoring, indicating that this is key to operating a runner fleet at scale.
- Include a section on example configurations from customers managing large runner fleets.
