Fix broken templated "Too many changes to show" text

Merged Stan Hu requested to merge sh-fix-real-size-warnings into master

https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/merge_requests/23230 broke the external string in 11.6. This fixes that and adds a spec.
