Fixes bug in https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/merge_requests/19958 that was identified by @iamphill in https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/merge_requests/19883#note_84004510.

I guess the answer to https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/merge_requests/19958#note_82276845 should have been "Yes, I should add a test"! And I should have verified it locally...
