Add colon to allowed characters in project name
Problem to solve
I would like to have project names like "Aleph One: Marathon" with a colon, but that's not allowed currently. Colons are used in the clarification of meaning in composite titles and would naturally want to occur in project names, which are titles.
Intended users
Everyone with a project.
Further details
Just tried on Gitlab.com and the current response is:
The form contains the following error: Name can contain only letters, digits, emojis, '', '.', dash, space. It must start with letter, digit, emoji or ''.
Proposal
Allow the colon.
Name can contain only letters, digits, emojis, '_', '.', ':', dash, space. ..
Permissions and Security
Does not apply.
Documentation
In https://docs.gitlab.com/ee/gitlab-basics/create-project.html#blank-projects "The name of your project in the Project name field. You can’t use special characters, but you can use spaces, hyphens, underscores or even emoji." Add colons in the text.
Testing
Don't have to expertise to comment on that.
What does success look like, and how can we measure that?
Project names with colons are possible.
