Add ability to track data for UX research
A number of UX conversations have come up where it would be interesting to have data on some specific actions that happen on GitLab.com
For example:
- How many people have pinned the global side bar: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/merge_requests/7591#note_18826047
- How many labels do most projects have: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/24875#note_19167649
- How many todos do people have: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/25131
- Usage of dropdown menu: https://gitlab.com/gitlab-org/gitlab-ce/issues/23603#note_19169540
With Piwik, I can see general usage of pages. But I don't think this specific information is there (unless I'm missing something). Piwik does offer content tracking, which I think may help out in this case.
When these sort of questions come up in UX, how can we get this information? Additionally, understanding how to collect this sort of information will allow us to conduct A/B tests.
